Salomon are well known in the ski industry for producing solid dependable skis that are powerful & versatile yet still easy to ski on.  For the 2015 season they do not disappoint. They have split their skis up into different categories to make things easier with their All mountain front side (piste orientated) skis falling into their X-series range, while the backside range becoming part of their Quest category. Still utilizing their popular X-Chassis on a number of skis in their X-series range this diagonal carbon reinforcement placed mid ski adds torsional stiffness for great edge grip & stability, they use this with RKS rocker stabilization to really lock in the tips of the ski & this offers really easy turn initiation.  On their quest range they use many of these ideas from their piste side, yet incorporate the honeycomb tip to reduce the swing weight along with utility rocker for optimum flotation & control with excellent terrain absorption. Using the guts of Salomons Lab Race skis, & yet optimized for a lighter Freeride application & built on their ultra versatile utility rocker platform, this is the new one-ski quiver of the Salmon Freeride team. This ski is using the Honeycomb tip, which offers great manoeuvrability with fluid terrain absorption & their ‘hook free taper’ which offers a 5point sidecut & a tip & tail taper to improve turn initiation & steering in soft & variable snow conditions to offer great versatility where ever you take it. Ski

- see recommendations below Ski Profile Skier Level: For good intermediates to experts Snow Conditions: All snow conditions Snow Terrain: All Mountain, Freeride, Big Mountain, Back country touring   We stocked the Q range last season & loved them, however this season they have added this new ski, the Q-Lab & wow, this is a great ski.  You can really feel the difference in the new S-core which was developed in the Salomon race lab & uses 3mm of alternating laminates of poplar & ash hardwoods that run the entire length of the ski.  This offers maximum precision, stability & edge grip.  At 104 underfoot it is falling into that optimum waist width now to offer great versatility & the double titanium laminate allows this ski to withhold its torsional rigidity, whilst having the width & flex to sit up in new snow. Packed with features this is a great one ski quiver that feels lively, responsive & fun to ski on. Is this for me? Designed for the advanced to expert skiers but perfectly suitable for the good intermediate skiers this will suit a wide variety of users, however it is at its best when being taken off the sides & through the new snow.  It has a longer turning radius, & would be great for a seasonaire or a skier who will be out a few times in a season & getting a few different conditions that they will need to cope with.  If you wanted you could quite easily mount this up with a tour bindings to offer you a bit more versatility & greater access to the back cou

Comfort & control on-piste and the versatility & ease-of-use to find new terrain off piste.  The Myriad is the latest additional to the women’s Quest range & ready to take you to new places. The Q-83 is in the womens range of skis & is a new ski for this season.  It falls in just below their Q-88 Lux & is aimed at skiers who have been on piste skis & would like the versatility that a slightly wider ski can offer, but without the weight increase & loosing the quick turning radius.  You will find that this ski will really push the user to get off the side of the piste & start exploring what the mountain has to offer, but still offer great quick performance on the hardpack. Really responsive & great fun to ski on.  I really enjoyed this ski & felt like it helped progress my skiing rapidly Is this for me? - see recommendations below Ski Profile Skier Level: For advanced to expert skiers Snow Conditions: All snow conditions Snow Terrain: All Mountain, Freeride, Off-piste   The Q98 was a very popular ski last season & it is easy to see why.  Incredibly versatile the 98 has the width to sit up in new snow & so would be a great ski for those who enjoy powder skiing & would like a ski that has the width in the shovel to sit up in nice powder bowls, but the waist to cope with harder pack pistes to get around.  If you are a aggressive piste skier then you may find this a little soft in the nose, but if you want a one ski quiver to cope well offpiste then this is a very good option. Is this for me? Aimed at the advanced skier this works well as a standard alpine ski, but could easily work with a pair of Salomon Guardians or Marker Barons mounted  to provide a little more versatility & allow you to use them to get to some less accessible areas.   If you want a ski that is aimed at doing a bit of everything then this could be a good option.  If you would like something stiffer then i would have a look at the Q-lab that offers a bit more stiffness & race pedigree.     SKI BINDING ADVICE: You will need a minimum 100mm brake width for this ski. You could pair the Q98 with a Salomon Z12 or Marker Griffon as a standard binding option, The Salomon Guardian & Marker Baron would both be suitable as a touring option. You can always go wider for your brakes but d
