Its 88 mm waist & Flip Core 3D Rocker design make this ski extremely agile & versatile. Ideal for demonstrating your skills both on & off the piste. Blizzard are a relatively new brand for us with last season being the first season that we stocked their range, however, having had the chance to get out on them at the ski test they are already a firm favourite of many of the staff & offer some great performing skis that sold really well & gained great feedback from our regular customers.  Although not as well known here in the UK as some other brands, Blizzard have utilized their flip core technology that gives them a great fun feel whilst still offering great edge hold. The Blizzard flipcore is a revolutionary rocker technology offering natural spring, lightweight flotation in powder & yet retaining excellent stability at low & high speeds.  The natural rocker shape is produced without having to bend or artificially shape the ski in a press, the end result is a new rockered construction hat reaches a new level of stability & even pressure distributer that is unheard of in Freeride ski construction. Similar in

Dimensions to the men’s version called the Brahma yet with a lighter wood core this ski offers power, edge hold & enormous versatility all over the mountain. Ski

For the advanced women skiers who spend a lot of time on piste & enjoy a really solid edge hold on the longer sweeping turns, but want width to venture off the sides or play in the tree’s when available.  These skis need to be skied slightly harder to get the best out of them & so suit the more advanced aggressive skiers or those aspiring to get to this.   SKI BINDING ADVICE: You will need a minimum 90mm brake width for this ski. You could pair the Black Pearl with a Marker Squire or for the more aggressive skier the Marker Griffon. You can always go wider for your brakes but dont be tempted to go narrower. The Blizzard Bonafide is a powerful & yet lively all-mountain ski, combining a titanium layer with Blizzards Flip Core 3D construction to give superb feedback whatever the conditions underfoot. The full wood core of the ski has also been lightened resulting in a ski that feels even more playful, & light for a ski that is featuring a titanium layer & sidewall construciton. Carving is a breeze thanks to the sandwich sidewall design feeding power to the edges, with fast exits from each turn with great rebound. Throw these into the powder though & all that responsiveness & power shows just how versatile this ski is!   Ski

The idea: the wood core of the ski is inserted upside-down, so that the downward-facing, convex side of the core creates a natural bend. This natural rocker-shape is already built into the construction of the ski, not needing any additional re-pressing. A revolutionary construction-technique, which is equally as individual as the target groups it speaks to. Sidewall Gives you better energy transmission, increased torsional stiffness & increased impact strength. Is It For Me? A firm favourite here at Edge & Wax & consistently getting great reviews. This is a powerful ski for blasting on piste and playing off the sides. Is this for me? This is stiff & aggressive & designed for the advanced skiers who are confident on piste & enjoy going hard & fast.  Although this is 98mm underfoot i would still say, due to its stiffness, it is a piste orientated ski, yet offers the flexibility to take it anywhere.  This is a great ski for advanced European skiers who will be spending 70% on piste but enjoy venturing off now & then.   SKI BINDING ADVICE: You will need a minimum 100mm brake width for this ski. You could go for the Marker Griffon, or the Jester for more aggressive skiers. For more versatility you could p

The Blizzard Cochise, named after the heroes from the PBA (Professional Bullriders Association), this ski has been tamed by top-class riders such as Björn Heregger on the steep slopes of the Freeride Wold Tour. A double titanium layer together with a bamboo core & the Flip Core 3D Rocker technology will help you too to master even the toughest rides. Make no mistake, this bulls a beast. But what a magnificent beast, it is for guys who have the skill, strength, & courage to let them run. The 108-mm waisted Cochise combines plenty of width for powder days but also offers a bit more every day, piste versatility.  Blizzards Full Rocker profile combines a flat section under the binding with rocker fore & aft. All Free Mountain skis are built with Blizzards Flipcore construction method: The ski mold is built with rocker in it, & the wood core is flipped so that it fits the rockered mold (arched surface down). Blizzard says no extra pressure is needed tip & tail to bend the ski into a rockered shape, so theres no material-memory tendency to spring back to an un-rockered shape, & pressure distribution is even along the skis length. The Cochise features a metal-reinforced (two sheets), wood-core construction with vertical sidewalls, built for maximum stability & edge-grip. Each ski in the successful bull series is named for a different legendary bull on the professional rodeo circuit.   Ski

This is the slightly wider model at 108 underfoot & is a competitor to the very popular Volkl Gotama. Comparing the two i would say that this feels slightly lighter underfoot & so slightly more manoeuvrable, while the Volkl feel slightly more solid in chopped up snow, but this is nitpicking & I did really enjoy this ski. It felt very planted & stable & yet coped with whatever was thrown at it. It is at it best when skied hard & fast & so would really suit the advanced skier who is confident on the blacks & wants a little more width underfoot to cope playing off the sides when conditions allow.
