Repair pistols are a key component in a professional ski/board technicians workshop, but cost many hundreds of pounds. Power Adhesives, manufacturers of glue guns & pro workshop repair pistols have taken their knowledge from glue guns, talked to UK ski & snowboard technicians such as ourselves, & created a compact repair pistol for the home DIY person. Running safely at a much higher temperature than a traditional glue gun, it has a customised application nib, for smooth application of repair material to your base. This gun kit comes complete with a support stand 4 1/2 polymer repair sticks to allow you to learn before first live application. EVERY gun is tested before packing, so you will find some residual repair material in the pistol. This does NOT mean it is used! Power Adhesives have a 100% QC check process, for customer safety & assurance. Contents: Gun, Gun St&, 4 x Polymer Repair Sticks Fitted with 6 foot flex Voltage: 230 Volts Heating Up Time: 10-15 minutes Operating Temperature: Approx 440 degrees F Diameter Of Repair Sticks: 1/2 HOW TO USE To give an extended tutorial on how to use a repair gun correctly would take more than a paragraph. You can see repair guns in use by clicking on the EDGEANDWAXTV link on our website & viewing the workshop videos. As a basic guide, you should leave the gun switched on
- in a safe location
- for around 5-7 minutes, to allow the head to fully heat up. Once heated up, only light trigger pressure should be required to extrude repair material onto the base. Before repairing a scratch in the base, ensure it is clean, & if it is a core shot that it has been pre-treated with Metal Grip base repair material. Then use the gun to gently heat the repair area up BEFORE applying material. Once heated start at the furthest point from you of the scratch, gently squeeze the trigger & draw the gun towards you. Place the gun carefully back in the st&, & allow the repair to cool for as long as possible, we suggest AT LEAST 15 minutes but if possible leave overnight for good adhesion & cooling. Please note that the gun may drip a little repair material when in the st&. This is normal, but do allow for this when you decide where to place your st&. We also recommend cleaning the repair pistol head as soon as it has cooled down to remove excess material, using a metal scraper, & lightly sanding when it has become dirty. We also recommend using black repair rods. Clear repair rods do not always give as clean a fixation, & are prone to discolouring with heat. A black repair rod gives better adhesion & durability. Our Opinion A great tool for the enthusiastic DIY ski/board tech. Treated with respect, a repair gun can give a very long lasting & professional repair. Is This For Me? If you are looking to set up a comprehensive home DIY workshop a repair gun is a great investment & will save time on base repairs giving a more durable fix.

One of those products where we have talked about making over apres-ski but never had time, the RESQSKI system means no more powder tracers, offering a digital way of finding buried skis from 30 metres away.   For off-piste skiers losing a ski is an ever-present fear. The ski planes under the powder & disappears in seconds.  It can end up 10 metres away from where you fall.   It can take 10 minutes / a half hour – or never – to find.  It can ruin your day & at best disrupt the enjoyment of the rest of the ski group waiting for you. RESQSKI offers a high tech solution that offers great value for your money when you consider the cost of a lost ski/binding or valuable skiing time on the mountain. RESQSKI finds buried skis up to 30 metres away & buried up to 1 metre deep.  RESQSKI’s ski homing tags are waterproof & shockproof.  Removable tags have a neat switch that means batteries hardly ever have to be replaced.  Easy to fit straight from box. how does it work? RESQSKI works using RF (radio frequency) technology.  RESQSKI should not interfere with the operation of avalanche transceivers.  Avalanche transceivers operate at 457 KHZ.  RESQSKI operates at frequency 2.45 GHZ. A credit card–sized handheld transceiver communicates with specially developed homing tags that lead you to the lost ski using flashing lights & sonic beeps. The lights move from red to green & the beeps get ever louder & more frequent as you get closer to the ski. Each tag is ‘registered’ to a specific numbered button on the Handheld so that your skis can be searched individually by the Handheld.  Another set of ski tags (purchased separately) can be registered to buttons 3 & 4 on the Handheld. The tags are designed so that the Homing tag can be taken out of the Base Tag for storage.  A Dummy tag is supplied to fill the Tag Base to give a clean, streamlined appearance when RESQSKI is not needed for operation. The batteries can be replaced if required, & if the units are switched on & off each day will offer a season of operating power. Even if left on, the units offer 12-15 weeks of power, & the battery status can be easily identified thanks to the red LED light when turned on. BOX CONTENTS One credit card size locating transceiver with 1 x CR2032 battery One pair of base units, which apply to the ski topsheets & have dummy plugs for when not in use One pair of homing units, which clip into the base units & activate simply by turning, with 4 x LR54 batteries (2 per unit) Instructions   A very simply but effective way of finding a ski when things go wrong in powder. No system is faultless, but with a 30 metre surface range & 1 metre depth this should find a lost ski in most challenging conditions, & does so without the faffing around with powder tracers. I have a set mounted on my Kastles as losing one skis will end up costing you a new pair ultimately, & I dont fancy the bill for that, & I have to say I am pretty prone to losing things out on the mountain :o)     ...
