One of those products where we have talked about making over apres-ski but never had time, the RESQSKI system means no more powder tracers, offering a digital way of finding buried skis from 30 metres away.   For off-piste skiers losing a ski is an ever-present fear. The ski planes under the powder & disappears in seconds.  It can end up 10 metres away from where you fall.   It can take 10 minutes / a half hour – or never – to find.  It can ruin your day & at best disrupt the enjoyment of the rest of the ski group waiting for you. RESQSKI offers a high tech solution that offers great value for your money when you consider the cost of a lost ski/binding or valuable skiing time on the mountain. RESQSKI finds buried skis up to 30 metres away & buried up to 1 metre deep.  RESQSKI’s ski homing tags are waterproof & shockproof.  Removable tags have a neat switch that means batteries hardly ever have to be replaced.  Easy to fit straight from box. how does it work? RESQSKI works using RF (radio frequency) technology.  RESQSKI should not interfere with the operation of avalanche transceivers.  Avalanche transceivers operate at 457 KHZ.  RESQSKI operates at frequency 2.45 GHZ. A credit card–sized handheld transceiver communicates with specially developed homing tags that lead you to the lost ski using flashing lights & sonic beeps. The lights move from red to green & the beeps get ever louder & more frequent as you get closer to the ski. Each tag is ‘registered’ to a specific numbered button on the Handheld so that your skis can be searched individually by the Handheld.  Another set of ski tags (purchased separately) can be registered to buttons 3 & 4 on the Handheld. The tags are designed so that the Homing tag can be taken out of the Base Tag for storage.  A Dummy tag is supplied to fill the Tag Base to give a clean, streamlined appearance when RESQSKI is not needed for operation. The batteries can be replaced if required, & if the units are switched on & off each day will offer a season of operating power. Even if left on, the units offer 12-15 weeks of power, & the battery status can be easily identified thanks to the red LED light when turned on. No system is faultless, but with a 30 metre surface range & 1 metre depth this should find a lost ski in most challenging conditions, & does so without the faffing around with powder tracers. I have a set mounted on my Kastles as losing one skis will end up costing you a new pair ultimately, & I dont fancy the bill for that, & I have to say I am pretty prone to losing things out on the mountain :o)     ...

The Buckwild has quickly become a favourite with the ride team, as a result the cheeky graphic can be spotted in countless magazine shoots & online video edits. The Twin Rocker profile has a long flat zone with minimal rocker. This provides a large & stable landing platform with the ‘get out of jail’ forgiveness afforded by raised contact points. Features: A long flat zone extends well past the binding inserts with a small section of micro rocker before the nose & tail. This means the Twin Rocker Shape is hook-free for a forgiving ride but with loads of base & edge contact for grip & power. As a true twin this board is completely symmetrical meaning that it rides just as well regular as it does ‘switch’. Rather than using ABS sidewalls or those made from wood or P-Tex, Ride have developed their proprietary Slimewall sidewalls. These are made from the urethane, which is commonly used in skateboard wheels, & adds maximum dampening to the edge for a smooth ride & durable construction. Pop Rods 2.0 are carbon rods wrapped in urethane, & then strategically placed in the tip and/or tails of a board.  The carbon rod gives huge pop, & the urethane wrap adds some dampening for the landing. The rods are placed on both edges; from the inserts back (or forward at the tip) this gives great pop when preloading one corner of your board i.e. for big rotational aerials. Extra large edges, with 50% more of the Rockwell Ultra Hard Steel found on regular edges means that Cleave Edge provides unmatched strength & tuneability. Ride use stitched rather than woven fibreglass in their snowboards for a more consistent & therefore stronger construction. Hybrid Glass uses triaxial stitch on top with biaxial on the base for balanced torsion & flex. Fusion 4000 is a sintered base material that is made harder, more durable & faster than the competition. With the rockered profile, true-twin shape & not exactly understated graphics you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Buckwild was a going to be a noodle aimed at jib riding & buttery silliness. However the clues are in the tech, which more than justifies its price tag & gives it the qualities of a board built for riding hard. It has fairly stiff torsional flex so is stable at speed & holds an edge right through the turn.   So if your idea of fun is going further, higher & faster than everyone else on the hill then you will certainly be having more fun on the Buckwild. Is it for me? Built around a freestyle shape with performance enhancing tech the Buckwild is for intermediate to advanced park & pipe riders. It would make a great ‘resort board’ for fairly aggressive snowboarders that want a solid but fun ride for the pistes and

The Compact is a soft all-mountain freestyle board. The Low Rize rocker profile results in a very surfy ride, all but eliminating the possibility of hooking an edge in the park or on the piste. It lifts at the contact points with a long almost flat zone underfoot. This provides an almost ‘catch free’ ride & increases float in powder. It is popular with freestyle riders because of the ease in which the board can be ‘pressed’ as it is in an almost pre-pressed shape. Rather than using ABS sidewalls or those made from wood or P-Tex, Ride have developed their proprietary Slimewall sidewalls. These are made from the urethane, which is commonly used in skateboard wheels, & adds maximum dampening to the edge for a smooth ride & durable construction. Membrain Topsheet is urethane infused fabric which weighs less than half than that of traditional plastic top sheets. The Foundation Tuned Core is tip-to-tail wood. It has proven durability, consistent flex & retains its pop. Ride use stitched rather than woven fibreglass in their snowboards for a more consistent & therefore stronger construction. 90 & 0 degree angles make up Biaxal Glass which provides a fun & forgiving flex. Fusion 1500 Base is wax absorbing, durable & easy to repair. This board could be the perfect compromise if you dont want to choose between lapping the park & riding the whole mountain.  Mount your bindings centre for the former & shuffle your bindings back & slightly closer together to transform this board into an all mountain shredder. A great single quiver board for discerning beginner & intermediate female riders, it’s also a great choice for advanced female jibbers. Is it for me? A fantastic first board but also so much more than that, the Compact is also great for intermediate riders that will find the soft flex easy to turn & manipulate for buttering & the twin shape beneficial for switch riding. Advanced riders will be able to press the Compact every-which way on boxes & rails in the park.
