The Salomon Impact 100 CS is a piste performance boot, for skiers who refuse to give up comfort for performance. Put together using Salomon’s Custom Shell technology, which has a medial & lateral zone on the boot which can expand by 3mm on each side, giving a great fit on the fore foot. In a 20 minute process the boot can go from a 100mm last to a 106mm, so the shell has plenty of give for those lumps & bumps. The Instinct has a magnesium backbone that links the upper cuff & the lower shell of the boot, providing better rebound coming out of the turn & a more progressive but powerful flex pattern. The liner for this boot is Salomon’s “ My Custom Fit Sport” which gives maximum customisation. With thermoformable foam in the heel, ankle & tongue for perfect fit & transmission.

The Salomon Instinct 90 CS is a piste performance boot. Put together using Salomons Custom Shell technology, which has a medial & lateral zone on the boot which can expand by 3mm on each side, giving a great fit on the fore foot. In a 20 minute process the boot can go from a 98mm last to a 104mm, so the shell has plenty of give for those lumps & bumps. Salomon has a women’s specific fit on their boots, which offers a more comfortable fit around the calves by lowering the cuff height of the boot. Also there is an adjustable cuff on the boot that means that you can create a slightly higher volume for a better fit. All of these features are in place to give the expected level of performance & precision with a high level of comfort. The liner for this boot is Salomon’s women specific “ My Custom Fit Performance” which gives maximum customisation. The low profile Trinity Outsole has extra emphasis on board-feel & is inspired by skate shoe design.   The Ivy BOA offers excellent value for money. BOA, an integrated liner lock & the additional STR8JKT feature don’t usually come cheap but you get them all in this £200 boot. Despite being billed as a freestyle boot the mid-flex & premium fit makes it a great all-rounder suitable for the vast majority of riders & all terrain. Is it for me? Perfect if you’re looking for a mid-flexing, do everything (except break the bank) boot with quick but high-performance fastening.
