This year K2 have looked back over this 50years of history & drawn the best ideas together to produce a great range of skis. By combining proven shapes with optimal profiles K2 have managed to design their entire 2012/13 collection specifically for where you ski on the mountain. Being the widest ski in the A.M.P. model line, the Aftershock thrives in soft & chopped conditions. Although it excels off the groomed runs, it still has enough hard snow performance & power to carve trenches in firm pistes Ski
Specification Geometry: 130mm / 86mm / 114mm Turn Radius: 17 metres at 174cm Terrain: All Mountain Orientated Core
Material: Aspen/ Paulownia Woodcore Camber/ Rocker: All Terrain Rocker Technology: Hybritech sidewall, Metal Laminate, Progresssive Sidecut, MOD technology. Bindings: Marker K2/MX 14.0 Ski Features All Terrain Rocker (30% tip rocker): Designed for all ability levels with added versatility & ease in all snow conditions. All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable & soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy & edge-hold in firmer conditions. Marker K2/MX binding system: Working in conjunction with the integrated hubs, the Marker K2/MX provides unmatched precision & control on their highest-end A.M.P. models. The system uses Markers Inter-pivot heel technology & lightweight Triple-Pivot Comfort MX toe. This toe comes with a cross-mounted spring, stainless steel AFD & backward release function. Hybritech sidewalls: Hybritech is a unique blend of sidewall & cap constructions. The construction combines the accuracy, power & performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics & smooth turn initiation of cap construction. Metal Laminate: Built with two sheets of lightweight Titanal running the length of the ski, metal laminate skis are the highest performing & most complex construction available from K2. Built from the base up, a metal laminate construction consists of alternating layers of fibreglass & Titanal above & below the wood core. Metal-laminates provide dampening, accurate, unshakable performance ideal for expert-level skiers. MOD Monic: The Monic is a solid zinc mass that works in conjunction with the Mod structure to focus mass-dampening at a targeted location. MOD technology: MOD functions by absorbing vibrations & impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold & a higher degree of power & control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes & moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected. Mens’s
- Spedific MOD structure: The optimum location & thickness of mass differs from men to women. The mens’s Mod structure is more X-shaped. Distributing mass to the perimeter for increased edge-hold forward of the bindings. Progressive Sidecut: Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees enhanced turn initiation & hard-snow performance.
