As well as the two-stage flex in the highback, I really like how the Infinity Chassis has precision size adjust, which means that you can slide the foot bed to get not only a really good fit, but also to help to centre your bindings on your board. Something I’m particularly fussy about. Another advantage of Ride bindings is the small footprint that you get from having a chassis made of  Aluminium rather than plastic. This (combined with the micro-disc) means that your bindings don’t interfere so much with the natural flex of your board.  Is it for me?

Whether you duck the ropes at the top of the lift to ride the slackcountry or regularly hike out of bounds into the sidecountry, you’ll appreciate the float created by Ride’s High Rize Rocker. With slightly more lift at the nose than tail but with a twin sidecut, the Slackcountry is versatile enough to dominate the soft stuff, slash the groomer & easily ride switch. Features: The most acute rocker profile of all Ride profiles is High Rize Rocker. With a slightly higher rocker in the nose than the tail this shape is really well suited to riding soft, fresh snow due to the increase in float that it provides. Rather than using ABS sidewalls or those made from wood or P-Tex, Ride have developed their proprietary Slimewall sidewalls. These are made from the urethane, which is commonly used in skateboard wheels, & adds maximum dampening to the edge for a smooth ride & durable construction. Hempbrain Top Sheets use far less material by removing the traditional plastic top. Hemp is a fast growing renewable resource that requires little processing & has the benefit of producing strong & light top sheet material. High strength Aspen is combined with lightweight woods & bamboo to produce the Performance Tuned Core. This is the perfect balance between strength & weight saving. Ride use stitched rather than woven fibreglass in their snowboards for a more consistent & therefore stronger construction. Hybrid Glass uses triaxial stitch on top with biaxial on the base for balanced torsion & flex. Fusion 4000 is a sintered base material that is made harder, more durable & faster than the competition. If you think about it the Slackcountry is the board that most of us British snowboarders should be buying. Sure we’d all like a board for every situation, including the powder board that more times than not stays at the bottom of the board bag, or worst still at home
- because the chance of getting stung by excess baggage is greater than the chance of scoring knee deep pow all week long. I’m not suggesting we shouldn’t have faith, we should, & we should be prepared. If it dumps & we have the Slackcountry in our bags we will be whooping with joy after every heavenly turn, but when the snow gods don’t answer our prayers we can still blast around the resort making memories for all those ‘wish you were here’ postcards we should be sending home. Is it for me? Rocker profiles definitely make riding in powder easier so the Slackcountry is great for intermediate powder hunters. It has a fairly wide waist as standard, so as well as increasing the surface area & therefore improving the float it’s also ideal for riders with larger feet.
