First off the binding looks just like an alpine binding, this filled me with complete confidence when thinking of the downhill performance. With a chunky adjustable toe piece, so that you can use a “touring sole”, & the usual styling from the Salomon heel really makes this binding look the business. The binding also sits much lower on the ski than most of its competitors & it has a nice wide 80mm footprint on the toe so you will get a much more direct response from the set-up. Stepping into the binding & using it as a normal alpine binding you would be hard pressed to tell that you were using a touring/freeride binding as it skis like a solid performing alpine binding, with stunning control & power transmission. But for me this ski binding’s party piece, which sets it apart from its competitors, is the fact that you can fully operate the binding’s functions without taking your ski off. It is a simple case stabbing your pole on a large hike & ride switch at the rear of the binding which releases the heel piece, then flipping over the hike bar to the desired position & you are good to hike. To switch back into ride mode, just flip the hike bar back to its original position & step down until you hear the “CLACK”, then you are ready to shred!! All in all I was extremely impressed with how this binding performed on both the down
