In the night viewers of the digital generation the residual light amplifier tubes are no longer used, but instead highly developed digital video technology, which also works without wear and tear as compared to the tubes. The picture quality achieved via the digital technology is excellent and is comparable to the tubular night viewers of the 2+ generation. The pictures are generated via a highly-sensitive CCD-scanning system. The invisible image field illumination enables an unnoticed observation at best brightness.
