Easy to use If you have used 3D printers in the past you will know that setting up the machine & calibrating the printer can be a time consuming & frustrating task. Thankfully setting up the Da Vinci 1.1 is quite straightforward & very quick, using the intuitive XYZ process & the large touchscreen panel on the front of the machine. The printing process Either create your own design on a computer using the supplied XYZ software or choose from the thousands of 3D models that can be accessed from the app. Choose to connect either via USB (Universal Serial Bus) or wirelessly connect to print from anyway with the office or home. This increased connectivity is enhanced even further with the 5” LCD touchscreen that is mounted to the front of the Da Vinci 1.1. All the designs contained within the app can be accessed through the front panel & a few clicks of a button will set your project in motion. Of course you are in no way restricted to pre-formatted designs & the only limitation on what you can print is your imagination – along with the confines of the printer of course! Follow the process in real time The Da Vinci 1.1 is a fully enclosed printer – essential from a safety angle – but the transparent door makes it easy to follow the progress of your print job. But, even if you are away from the machine you can still keep an eye on your design, as the Da Vinci 1.1 features a built-in camera which can send photo updates to your app. How it works This printer uses a process known as Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) to generate the models it prints. Plastic, or the filament. is housed on a spool which is transferred through the extruder (nozzle) to the printing plate. This is a fast process that is straightforward to set up &, again, the intuitive touchscreen display guides the user effortlessly through the process when setting up a new print. The actually object is ‘printed’ using layer upon layer of plastic which is bonded to the previous layer to build up the 3D model. The model can be printed using a range of resolutions from 100 macrons (most detailed) to 400 macrons (low detail, but fast).
