The 24mm ultra wide-angle lens gives photographers a wider range of composition possibilities with approx. 213% larger viewing space compared to that of 35mm camera. It captures more subjects in limited focusing distance. For distant subjects, the Intelligent Zoom can be used for the extended magnification to 8x by combining digital zoom with minimum deterioration of image quality. The new Creative Panorama function with 11 filters allows the users to apply effects to create a distinctive horizontal / vertical panoramic image produced with consequent shots taken by overlaying the previous picture. The DMC-XS1 also integrates popular Creative Control / Creative Retouch featuring a total of 13 filter effects. The Creative Control lets users shoot with a filter effect while checking how it makes difference on the picture & the Creative Retouch enables applying a filter effect on the picture even after shooting in camera. The MEGA O.I.S. is incorporated in the i A mode to suppress h&-shake. Apart from the digital image correction, it corrects a jolt of light axis by shifting the O.I.S. lens unit to offset it so that the image is not affected digitally nor deteriorated at all. The i A mode is incorporated in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation & the reduction of miss-shots. In addition to the MEGA O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure & Face Detection are included to get the best result. The DMC-XS1 records dynamic HD video in 1280 x 720p in Quick Time Motion JPEG. Recording motion images can be started with a press of an independent video button on the top of the camera, which is extremely convenient for users to switch photo/video shooting instantly. Users can also sort & archive the images via a bundled software PHOTOfun STUDIO Ver. 9.0 LE & upload them to the SNS (social networking services).
