The British Canoe Unions 1 star award is designed to be the first step in becoming a paddler. Youll be learning the personal paddle stokes needed to control the kayak through the water, the safety aspects of kayaking with others including capsize procedures & the theory behind the sport. Dont worry if this sounds a bit daunting, the course can be taken without any prior experience. Programme During the course you will gain all the relevant skills & theory needed for the assessment such as: safety awareness, equipment selection, launching & recovering, steering & controlling, kayaking theory, capsize drills & using spray decks. Duration This experience will last for Approx. 6 hours. Group There will be other people there on the day. Spectators Youre welcome to bring along spectators to watch.
