HP LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge The exceptionally reliable, high-performance format is the result of a multi-million dollar collaboration between three storage industry leaders – HP, IBM and Seagate – and is based on Linear Tape-Open technology. HP ultrium2 400GB data cartridges provide twice the speed and twice the capacity of ultrium1 - the number of tracks on the tape that can be used to store data has been increased from 384 to 512 and higher coercivity means improved linear bit density allowing more data to be stored in the same amount of space. The speed of the tape as it passes through the drive has increased from up to 5.4m/sec to up to 7.5m/sec A built-in LTO-Cartridge Memory (LTO-CM) chip provides access to key maintenance and diagnostic information from
the tapes in your storage bank – without you having to physically load and unload the tape(s). Provides increased access time to data and improved manageability. HP’s unique blue cartridges for ultrium1 and dark red for ultrium2 will help distinguish between DLT and SDLT cartridges. HP has 20 custom built testing chambers that are in use 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. This is more than any other media supplier. No other media vendor carries out such exhaustive qualification of the drive and media as they are used in the field. No other brand of storage media is so extensively tested for use on HP storage hardware products as HP branded media.
