The ceiling format of the unit means that it can provide unobstructed coverage to the area around it & aesthetically blends into any home or office environment thanks to its shape, size & hidden cable entry. The AP-910c can also be wall mounted. For ceiling mounting, a circular mounting plate (included with the unit) is fitted & then the AP-910c is attached. The AP-910c can be used together with our other access points (AP-710, AP-810 & AP-910c). For suspended ceilings, additional mounts are included to attatch the the ceiling T-Bars Simultaneous Dual-Band Operation & Extended 5 Ghz Bands The Vigor AP-910c supports simultaneous operation of the common 2.4 Ghz band & the new 5 Ghz b&. The 5 Ghz band is far less congested so if your PCs or other devices support the 5 Ghz b&, you can use that. The Vigor AP-910c operates both bands at the same time, so your devices can use either band & each has its own bandwidth so overall wireless capacity is also increased. The 5 Ghz supports the full range of extended domestic 5 Ghz channels, due to its support for DFS/TPC. You can select all 5 Ghz channels up to channel 140, as opposed to just the 4 Band A-Lower channels (which provides only two non-overlapping channels @ 80 Mhz channel width). Mounting & Coverage The AP-910c is designed to be installed on ceilings in order to serve the area below it. The cables (Ethernet or Power) can reach the AP-910c from the rear or the side. For solid ceiling fixing a backplate is supplied. The backplate fixes to the ceiling & the AP-910c then clips in. Tri-Band 11ac Wave 2 Access Point The Vigor AP 1000C is an 802.11ac Wave 2 access point, improving performance by increasing the amount of data that can be sent at one time. 11ac Wave 2 uses MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multiple In, Multiple Out) technology to boost performance & capacity, building upon the Single-User (SU-MIMO) technologies introduced with 802.11n. The Vigor AP's MU-MIMO technology when used with MU-MIMO capable wireless clients, allows each antenna (or Spatial Stream) to send to separate wireless clients at the same time, potentially doubling the data transmission rate to clients. A typical wireless access point can send data to only one client at a time with its radio. With enough users connected, congestion slows down transfer speeds more & more, as the AP is shared between more clients. This can be particularly useful in locations with many phones, tablet & laptops connecting, where the Vigor AP's more efficient transmissions could allow each access point to serve more clients than an 802.11ac Wave 1 or 802.11n access point. Wireless Optimisation Dray Tek's Vigor AP access points have many features designed to improve wireless performance on your network, to ensure that every wireless client gets the best possible experience. Wireless Security & VLANs The Vigor AP 1000C features multiple levels of wireless security. Encryption using WPA2 / WPA3 is available & you can also use the access control list (ACL) to specify the hardware addresses of clients which are permitted to connect (by MAC hardware address). Any unauthorised hardware is refused access. For additional user authentication, you can have the Vigor AP 1000C authenticate clients with an 802.1x RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-in User Service) server, or use its internal RADIUS server. The Vigor AP 1000C supports the 802.1q VLAN protocol so that if it is connected to an 802.1q enabled LAN, it can split tagged data (whether it's different subnets or intended for different users) & broadcast each on its own SSID. This means, for example, that your guest Wi Fi access is provided on a separate isolated SSID with no access to your company data. Multi-SSID Over Mesh Dray Tek's Mesh system supports 802.1q VLAN tagging for its multiple Wireless networks (or SSIDs), over both wireless & wired Mesh links between Vigor A Ps. Each SSID provided by the Mesh network can have a VLAN tag assigned to it. VLAN tags are interpreted by the network's router & switch (es) to segregate one network from another. For instance keeping devices connecting to a guest network separate from resources on the private, internal network. Setting up a Mesh network to work with VLANs only requires setting up the Mesh Root with the VLAN tags on its SSIDs. This change propagates to Mesh Nodes when syncing the configuration between access points & Multi-SSID over Mesh can be used just like a cabled network of access points. AP & Repeater Modes The Vigor AP 1000C can be used as a st&-alone Wireless Access Point, to provide wireless connectivity for a router or network that doesn't currently have wireless. Access Point mode can create up to 4 separate Wireless networks (or SSIDs). The Vigor AP 1000C can provide completely separate private & guest wireless networks through the use of 802.1q VLAN tags with a router or network that supports VLAN tagging, such as the Dray Tek Vigor 2862 router. Range Extender (or Universal Repeater) mode allows the Vigor AP 1000C to extend the wireless coverage of any existing wireless network. In this mode, the Vigor AP 1000C connects to a remote wireless network, allowing it to provide Internet & Network access to wireless clients that connect to the Vigor AP 1000C's wireless network. - Auto-Optimisation A Dray Tek Mesh Wireless network can easily add new Mesh Nodes & self-organises links between up to 8 Dray Tek Vigor AP access points, to ensure the best possible speeds. If a Mesh Node's wireless uplink drops out, for instance if there's interference or the Vigor AP it connects to is turned off, each Mesh Vigor AP automatically re-connects to the next available point to resumes service without any manual intervention required. Mesh Nodes further away will connect wirelessly to the nearest Mesh Node, with up to 3 wireless hops. Alternatively, where a network connection is available for a Vigor AP, join a Mesh Node to the network through ethernet & nearby wireless Mesh Nodes can join it instead of the Mesh Root to reduce wireless hops & increase possible Mesh throughput. You can expand wireless coverage quickly & easily with the Vigor AP 802, just plug it into a UK power socket & it's powered with its integrated power supply, no additional cables required. The dual band antennas are hidden within the Vigor AP & its small size makes it inconspicuous in any room. The indicator LEDs of the Vigor AP that normally show the Vigor AP's status, can be disabled or scheduled to avoid them lighting up a room. To check the Vigor AP's status with the LEDs turned off, just press the button on the front for 3 seconds to wake up the LED Gigabit LAN Port The Vigor AP 802 has one wired Ethernet port on the underside of the AP. This is a Gigabit port operating at 1000 Mb/s, backwards compatible with 10/100 devices. Using the Gigabit LAN port is optional, you can use the Vigor AP 802 as a purely wireless Mesh Node, connecting wirelessly to the Mesh network, without the need to use the RJ-45 for connectivity. When operating in AP mode, this ensures that the Vigor AP 802 is fed at the maximum speed in order to fully satisfy the full speed of both 2.4 G Hz & 5 Ghz bands simultaneously. When the Vigor AP 802 is used as a Mesh Node or Range Extender / Wireless Repeater, anything connected to the LAN port is bridged to your wireless network. Dual Band AC1200 Access Point The Vigor AP 802 is an 802.11ac access point, providing wireless coverage for both 2.4 G Hz & 5 G Hz clients simultaneously. This means that devices on the compatible 2.4 G Hz band can communicate with up to 300 Mb/s bandwidth to 802.11b/g/n clients, while the faster 5 G Hz band can provide up to 866 Mb/s to 802.11ac/n capable devices. The Vigor AP can connect up to 32 clients to each wireless radio, up to 64 wireless clients per Vigor AP 802 access point. When used with other Vigor A Ps being managed by a Dray Tek Vigor router, Central AP Management's AP Load Balancing can ensure that wireless clients are shared equally between the access points, giving better overall bandwidth by avoiding overloading of a single access point. Wireless Security & VLANs The Vigor AP 802 features multiple levels of wireless security. Encryption using WPA2 is available & you can also use the access control list (ACL) to specify the hardware addresses of clients which are permitted to connect (by MAC hardware address). Any unauthorised hardware is refused access. For additional user authentication, you can have the Vigor AP 802 authenticate clients with an 802.1x RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-in User Service) server. The Vigor AP 802 supports the 802.1q VLAN protocol so that if it is connected to an 802.1q enabled LAN, it can split tagged data (whether it's different subnets or intended for different users) & broadcast each on its own SSID. This means, for example, that your guest Wi Fi access is provided on a separate isolated SSID with no access to your company data. Multi-SSID over Mesh Dray Tek's Mesh system supports 802.1q VLAN tagging for its multiple Wireless networks (or SSIDs), over both wireless & wired Mesh links between Vigor A Ps. Each SSID provided by the Mesh network can have a VLAN tag assigned to it. VLAN tags are interpreted by the network's router & switch (es) to segregate one network from another. For instance keeping devices connecting to a guest network separate from resources on the private, internal network. Setting up a Mesh network to work with VLANs only requires setting up the Mesh Root with the VLAN tags on its SSIDs. This change propagates to Mesh Nodes when syncing the configuration between access points & Multi-SSID over Mesh can be used just like a cabled network of access points. AP & Repeater Modes The Vigor AP 802 can be used as a st&-alone Wireless Access Point, to provide wireless connectivity for a router or network that doesn't currently have wireless. Plug the Vigor AP 802's RJ-45 port into any Ethernet network & plug the AP itself into a wall socket for a tidy & space-efficient wireless solution. Access Point mode can create up to 2 separate Wireless networks (or SSIDs). The Vigor AP 802 can provide completely separate private & guest wireless networks through the use of 802.1q VLAN tags with a router or network that supports VLAN tagging, such as the Dray Tek Vigor 2862 router. The 5 Ghz band is far less congested so if your PCs or other devices support the 5 Ghz b&, you can use that. The 5 Ghz band is used for 802.11ac (or optionally 802.11n & 802.11a). The Vigor AP 902 operates both bands at the same time, allowing your devices to use either band & each has its own bandwidth so overall wireless capacity is also increased. The 5 Ghz interface supports the full range of extended domestic 5 Ghz channels, thank to its support for DFS/TPC; you can select all 5 Ghz channels up to channel 140, as opposed to just the 4 Band A-Lower channels (which provides only two non-overlapping channels). It has support for Band Steering which can be configured to guide clients that are able to connect to 5 G Hz wireless networks onto this band instead of the more congested 2.4 G Hz b&, which results in client connections being shared between the two frequencies more evenly, potentially increasing the number of wireless clients that can be connected to each Vigor Access Point. Gigabit Ethernet Ports The Vigor AP 902 has five wired Ethernet ports (separated into two distinct separated LANs). LAN A & LAN B can be fed separately & in turn broadcast on independent & isolated SSIDs. As the ports are all Gigabit, you can be sure that the AP is fed at the maximum speed in order to fully satisfy the full speed of both 2.4 G Hz & 5 Ghz bands simultaneously. The four ports on LAN A are particularly of use if you are using the AP as a wireless bridge as you can then connect wired PCs or devices to it.
