Its low sodium content & balanced mineral composition make it well suited for every member of the family. Bottled at the source, evian remains completely untouched by man throughout the process, so you can enjoy its naturally pure & refreshing taste anywhere, any time. In 1878, the French Medical Academy officially recognized evian Natural Mineral Waters favorable effects on human health. The bottle evian’s ambition is for all our bottles to have a second life, for them to become a resource rather than waste. For 20 years our team have been working on reducing the environmental impact of bottles their life cycle. Find out about what we have been doing actions. Introduction: the function of the bottle The bottle is what protects the qualities of evian water & its original purity, from bottling to the table. It is important to bear in mind the crucial role played by packaging in getting food products, in this case evian natural mineral water, to the consumer under optimal conditions. This requires a design that allows the products to be protected, from the factory to the store, & then on to the consumer; the bottle plays a key role in protecting the purity & quality of mineral water, & therefore in food safety for the consumer; the bottle & its packaging is also a means of providing the consumer with information, via labelling; we adjust our packaging to suit the different needs of our consumers, making it easier to stay hydrated during the day. Eco-design The International Centre for Water Expertise (Centre International d’ Expertise sur l’ Eau
- CIELE), which is based at the evian production facility, brings together our own international researchers & R&D teams, who perform tests on packaging during the design stage. These tests cover every stage in the life of the packaging’, from design, through production, shipping & final delivery to the shop shelves. Through studying the life cycle of the bottles the researchers are seeking to find the correct balance between reducing the weight of material while at the same time maintaining product quality & safety. Between 2008 & 2014 the team achieved a reduction in the weight of PET in a 1 litre bottle by 11% at a global level. Raw materials PET (Poly Ethylene Terephtalate) PET (Poly Ethylene Terephthalate) is a material that is 100% recyclable, & is used in the manufacturing of evian bottles. PET is an inert, air-tight & perfectly neutral material. Its properties enable it to maintain the natural properties of evian mineral water while at the same time being light in weight. evian was the one of the first natural mineral water brand to decide to switch from PVC to PET in 1995. Production The bottle is manufactured at the source The evian plant has put in place an integrated management system in order to ensure performance & sustainability; this system covers: quality (ISO 9001); the environment (ISO 14001); food safety (ISO 22000); & energy (ISO 50001). Consumption evian has a wide range of bottles on offer, to suit any need or occasion. Hydration is our battle. Our role is to support consumers in order to develop life long healthier hydration habits on a sustainable basis. Waste collection
- Focus France When recycled, evian bottles can have a second life. evian has set itself the goal of raising consumers’ awareness of the potential second life available through recycling, & is investing in many local initiatives. Vacances Propres: Danone, with evian, has been at the forefront of preventing litter In 1971, Antoine Riboud, the Chairman of BSN at the time, highlighted the challenge of combating litter, for Danone & other large mass consumption & packaging groups. It was decided to create the Vacances Propres organisation, & launch the first campaign bearing the same name. The role of Vacances Propres is to: make an effective contribution to reducing litter (all kinds of waste that the general public does not dispose of correctly; encourage the general public to become more aware, working together with the districts involved, by encouraging everyone to dispose of their waste in the right place; unite all the participants involved around this common goal. Incentives for sorting waste with Lemon Tri evian & the Eco-Emballages organisation have worked together for a long time in order to identify & implement innovative recycling solutions such as Lemon Tri. Lemon Tri is developing innovative & incentivising systems aimed at boosting the collection & recycling of bottle & packaging, in particular plastic (PET) bottles. To raise awareness of recycling among consumers, evian has partnered up with the Lemon Tri initiative, in order to increase the number of bottle recovery stations installed in public places in France. evian & Lemon Tri have been in partnership since 2015, with the aim of ensuring that bottles are recovered at all evian events &, more generally, developing recycling habits away from home with the goal of increasing the recycling rate. Recycling evian’s ambition is for PET bottles to be acknowledged as a resource, & for every one of our bottles to have a second life. Recycling can only happen if the bottles are recycled by consumers. This is why Danone & evian contributes to the development of recycling outlets, & to raising consumers awareness about the recycling process. When they have been put in a recycling bin, evian bottles can be turned into recycled plastic enabling them to have a second life. All of our bottles & their caps can be recycled. Some bottles can be recycled, to become new bottles, while others will be used to produce other items. Our priority is to make an active contribution to the recyclability & circular economy of plastics. Key Features Evian mineral water.
