Land Rover Fire Engines were built on 80-inch & 88-inch chassis. These small & easily manoeuvrable fire tenders were capable of operating in restricted spaces that larger appliances could not reach. Many were sold to works fire services or small airfields where they filled the role of first-response vehicles. Although Land Rover sub-contracted the construction of later Fire Engines to specialist manufacturers through their Special Projects Department, the Series I models were actually built at the Rover factory.
