Old Pulteney is the most northern distillery in mainland Scotland & is known for its love of the sea air. The 21 year old has been aged in much the same way as their 17 year old, with the same marrying process of Old Pulteney being matured in ex-bourbon wood being blended with spirit that has been aged in ex-sherry wood casks. The fundamental difference between the 17 year old & 21 year old is the sherry casks used in the maturation of the spirit, it is American oak that mainly contained Fino sherry. This adds yet another layer to the already complex enough Old Pulteney providing depth & character to this truly superb malt whisky.
