The rubber plant gets its name from the white latex running through its veins, which used to be used to make rubber. The thick glossy green leaves even have a rubber-like look to them. It will grow upright & form a beautiful plant which can be put on centre stage. They are easy to grow & will be very happy in a bright room but with plenty of shade available too. The perfect accompaniment for a north facing room. Keep away from cold draughts & radiators, & will need a constant temperature of 16C (60F) & 24C (75F). Be sure to not leave it in a room which can drop in temperature dramatically as this can cause its leaves to drop. Water regularly between Spring & Autumn, allowing the pot to drain in between each watering. In the winter months reduce the amount of watering & let the compost dry out.
