Product Description

Gypsophila Plants
- Pretty Maid Delicate flowers perfect for wedding bouquets & flower arrangements.; Most people will know of gypsophila, but associate it with wedding bouquets & arrangements, where it acts as a perfect foil for other showier flowers, Pretty Maid Gypsophila, however, doesn’t need other flowers to create drama. The Pretty Maid is one of those plants that catch your eye from a distance & captivates your attention close up. Each flower forms a perfect white, centimeter-wide cup with the prettiest delicate pink veining. Fred Yates who bred Pretty Maid here in the UK is well known for taking popular British garden plants & challenging the boundaries of the genus. Already recognised for previous successes with begonias & penstemons, Fred challenged himself to develop a gypsophila with larger, more densely packed flowers than ever before. This perennial gypsophila will form a 25 -30cm mound in its first year but can also tumble over walls & its pink & white colouring would work perfectly when grown alongside aubretia. In fact, the two would make a wonderfully early, spring display if grown together. Expect it to be loved by pollinators as well as gardeners as it will provide a very welcome early source of nectar & pollen at a time of year when supplies can be sparse for bees & other pollinators that have struggled to survive through the winter. And finally, just in case you didn't already have enough reasons to desire it, this gypsophila is also scented, to tempt you outside & indulge your senses & start you dreaming of the warmer months to come. Height 20-30cm (80-12"); spread 30-40cm (12-16"). Supplied in 9cm pots.
