- these are closest to wild garlic & naturally form a seed stalk which gives this type its name. This stalk or scape is delicious used in stir fries & sauces! Our hardneck varieties are very hardy, so will thrive throughout the UK, & are ideal for more northern areas. Hardneck types form larger cloves than softnecks, but do not keep as long. Now an essential part of so many kitchen gardens, with excellent health benefits (lowering blood pressure, fat & cholesterol levels & combating infections). & they couldn't be easier to grow
