- Selected from the best violet stripe garlic found in Russia & Eastern Europe. Large cloved, easy peeling vigorous variety, they grow particularly well in our relatively warm UK climate, north or south, but can withstand temperatures down to -20C. Above ground it has a distinctive, dark green, vigorous wide leaf pattern & underground, the bulb is enclosed in tight leaf wrappers avoiding the pitfall of many hardneck types in our damp climate, of splitting & opening out. produces tight, firm bulbs, ready at the end of June. When dried this variety produces beautiful marbled violet stripe bulbs. 5-10 cloves per bulb. Harvest June. Supplied in 9cm pots.
