This course discusses the concepts, operation & technologies behind multimedia over IP networks as the integrated & interactive provision of speech, audio, video, graphics & text to a user. It fully explains the issues associated with merging the essentially exclusive practices of communication, computing, & information processing into an interdisciplinary field.
The course provides a comprehensive introduction to carrying this type of traffic over IPbased networks such as Intranets & the Internet. Whilst Voice over IP is an important application of data over IP networks, this course is principally focussed on non-Vo IP communications.
