Triple Play is the provisioning of the three services to consumers over a single broadband connection:
- High Speed Internet
- Television, either normal broadcasts, Video on Demand (Vo D) or IPTV
- Telephone
The essence of Triple Play is the development of a combined business model rather than on solving technical issues or a common standard. Technically, the broadband standards are in place but needs of the different services presents problems for operators. IPTV can be confused with triple play & for many operators, IPTV is the television aspect so this course also overviews IPTV.
Course ObjectivesThis is a one day course that explores business models, backend processes including customer care support & billing.
The technical challenges are also detailed: voice, video & high speed data all have different characteristics & place different burdens on the supporting network For example, voice services are affected by delay variation, whereas packet loss or reordering has a more major effect on video & data services. Using a shared network resource such as cable or DSL requires that the network equipment used employs Qo S mechanisms.
