Overview
Users are expecting ever better network performance & an important element of this is the speed at which data can be delivered. By inserting routing information into the packet header, Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) enhances data transmission over combined Internet Protocol (IP) and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks, optimizing network operation.
This class covers the most important aspects of MPLS operation & provides students with the skills necessary to work confidently with MPLS. The class opens with a look at IP & Quality of Service (Qo S) issues, as well as IP addressing & associated procedures & protocols. Section 2 looks at Layer 2 operation in more detail, comprising an in-depth view of MPLS architecture, operation and packet forwarding. This is followed in Section 3 with a detailed look at MPLS virtual private networks. The last section of the class considers MPLS traffic engineering.
