CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is an absolute must for any web developer. Not only is it the smarter more powerful way of controlling the appearance of web pages but it is also a key technology in ensuring web sites remain accessible whilst implementing particular designs. CSS also helps to make web sites quicker to browse, easier to maintain & more open to new devices such as mobile phones & PDAs.

For some time web developers have managed to get by with a basic & even limited understanding of CSS using it to control little more than the appearance of text on web pages. As web technologies, standards & expectations have evolved, so too must the developers.

The course will teach you how to put a website together implementing the design through CSS styling & layout techniques. The course is very much 'hands-on' & whilst it does cover a lot CSS theory, delegates will spend most of the time learning by doing
- applying CSS to create fundamental & advanced designs & layouts with discussions throughout on theory & various technical issues such as inheritance & specificity. Delegates will be using Dreamweaver CS4 as the HTML & CSS editor & the course also aims to teach the delegates how to make best use of Dreamweaver's powerful CSS features.

Day 1 focuses on CSS theory & fundamentals by applying CSS to a simple web page so the causes & effects are easier to see & underst&. Day 2 focuses on applying CSS to more 'real world', complex pages to learn the real power of CSS. By the end of the course, delegates will be h&-coding CSS!

Eric Meyer's excellent book ' More Eric Meyer on CSS' is used as a workbook on the course. Each delegate will receive a copy of this book which they can refer back to & also use to further expand their understanding through tackling other design problems.
