Product Description

Overview

Portfolio management helps organisations make decisions about implementing the right changes to business as usual. Rather than being a new discipline, portfolio management builds on, & co-ordinates, existing processes such as strategic planning, investment appraisal along with project & programme management. The Management of Portfolios (Mo P?) guidance provides advice & examples of how to apply principles, practices, & techniques that together enable the most effective balance of organisational change & business as usual.
The class aims to be methodology independent & uses generic terms as far as possible.
The Mo P? foundation qualification is aimed at those involved in a range of formal & informal portfolio management roles encompassing investment decision making, project & programme delivery, & benefits realization. It is relevant to all those involved in the selection & delivery of business change initiatives including:
? Members of management boards & Directors of Change
? Senior Responsible Owners (SROs)
? Portfolio, Programme, Project, Business Change, & Benefits Managers
? Business Case writers & project appraisers.
The objectives of this class is to provide the students with a thorough grounding in the principles, practices, techniques, roles, responsibilities, documents, & organizational context within which portfolio management operates. Specifically to know & understand the:
? Scope & objectives of portfolio management & how it differs from programme & project management.
? Benefits from applying portfolio management context within which it operates.
? Principles upon which successful portfolio management is based.
? Approaches to implementation, the factors to consider in maintaining progress, & how to assess the success of portfolio management.
? Purposes of the portfolio management definition & delivery cycles & their component practices, & relevant techniques applicable to each practice.
? Purpose & key content of the major portfolio documents.

Qualifications are offered at two levels: initially at Foundation, & later in 2011 at Practitioner level.
