The Agile & Open Unified Processes, or Agile / Open UP, are ultra-lightweight variants of the Unified Process (UP) which was developed by Grady Booch, James Rumbaugh & Ivar Jacobson & is marketed by IBM Rational as the Rational Unified Process (RUP). UP is an extensive process framework that can be adapted & applied to a very wide range of projects. The overall UP framework is often perceived as complicated & the anti-thesis of agility as practised within e Xtreme Programming (XP), Scrum & DSDM, etc. The reality is that Agile/ Open UP can be effectively applied as an agile adaptation of the wider UP framework which is in widespread use. Agile/ Open UP uses agile variants of the same basic practices & project phases as RUP, with the work disciplines & work products simplified & reduced in number.
This course provides delegates with an in-depth understanding of Agile / Open UP & the principles & practicalities of its implementation & use for Agile systems development.
This course can focus on the Agile and/or Open Unified Process & refer to its use in conjunction with complementary practices from other Agile approaches such as Scrum, XP, Lean Software Development or any client-specific local practices.
