Published in 1846, Pomologie Francaise is one of the worlds finest & most beautiful books on fruit ever produced. The artist, Pierre-Antoine Poiteau (1766-1854) was a french pomologist & gardener who travelled extensively throughout his life, discovering many species of plants & animals. He was a great admirer of the Redoute style & utilised the colour printing techniques he devised. The Pomolgie Francaise was published by Langlois, the master of colour printing who supervised much of Redoutes most celebrated work.
