Digital inputs
Digital inputs are electrically isolated from the interface by opto couplers. They are standard designed for a voltage of 24 V DC / AC (15V-30 V). Optionally, this area can be changed by the customer to the area 5 V-15 V. This is done through the exchange of a resistance network. Specificity of the opto coupler is that AC opto couplers are used. This must be with the connection of the inputs not regarded to the polarity.

Digital-outputs
Digital outputs are realized by means of reed relays or opto couplers. These allow a galvanic (electrical) isolation by your internal structure between control circuit & load circuit. It is prevented, for example, that voltage peaks in load circuit destroys the sensitive electronics of the control module. In addition, one achieves an potential isolation, which is indispensable depending on the modules application areas, e.g. in the medical technology or mains powered devices with low voltage.
