- CW were proud to release this specially RAF commissioned limited edition watch to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1940. Commenting on the commission, Squadron Leader Stuart Balfour, Directorate of Defence PR (RAF) said, With ties between the brand & the RAF already well established at individual Squadron level, Christopher Ward of London was the obvious choice to create a timepiece to commemorate the very important anniversary. The design of the automatic watch is based on the Air Ministry's military issue pilots watch of the time, (reference number 6B/159) & carries the Kings crown & laurel wreathed RAF crest of the period. Other unique features include hour & minute hands formed in the shape of the propeller blades of the iconic Spitfire which was so central to securing victory. The Battle of Britain was, arguably, the most important military battle of the 20th Century, however, production of the watchwas limited to 1940 pieces worldwide making it highly collectible.
