Zantac 75 Zantac 75 quickly relieves or prevents heartburn & acid indigestion for up to 12 hours. Zantac 75 works on the root cause of the problem by preventing your stomach producing too much acid to relive or prevent heartburn & acid indigestion, it is fast acting & can control excess acid for up to 12 hours What do Zantac 75 tablets do? The stomach contains hydrochloric acid which helps to digest your food. Sometimes your stomach produces too much acid. This excess acid can lead to the conditions known as indigestion & heartburn. The active ingredient ranitidine belongs to a group of medicines called 'H2-blockers'. It works on the root cause of the problem by preventing your stomach producing too much acid. One Zantac 75 tablet gets to work fast & can control excess acid for up to 12 hours, to bring you long lasting relief. Each Zantac 75 tablet contains: 75mg of ranitidine (as hydrochloride) as the active ingredient. The tablets also contain: Microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, iron oxide (E172), titanium dioxide (E171) & triacetin. Check before you take these tablets Please get your pharmacist or doctors' advice before taking these tablets if: you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Zantac 75 listed above you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breast feeding you have kidney problems you suffer from a rare condition called porphyria you have unintended weight loss you are middle aged or older with new or recently changed indigestion symptoms you are taking any medicines, including "pain killers" of the class known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, such as aspirin or ibuprofen) regularly. This advice is even more important if you are elderly. How to take Zantac 75 tablets Adults & children 16 years of age & older: Swallow one Zantac 75 tablet whole, with a drink of water as soon as you have symptoms. If symptoms persist for more than one hour, take another tablet. To prevent symptoms associated with eating & drinking, take one Zantac 75 tablet half to one hour beforehand Do not take more than four tablets in 24 hours. Do not take for more than two weeks continuously. Children under 16 years: Not recommended If your symptoms get worse or are no better in two weeks, then consult your doctor. Overdose: As with all medicines if you take more tablets than recommended, you should get medical advice. Side-effects: Most people taking Zantac 75 tablets find they cause them no problems. Some side effects are even less likely when you only take the tablets occasionally. As with all medicines some people may be allergic to them but this is very rare with Zantac 75 tablets. The usual allergic reaction is a skin rash or sometimes swelling of the eyelids, face or lips & some people have noticed sudden wheeziness, pain or tightness of the chest or have felt faint or feverish, or collapsed. In this case stop taking the tablets & tell your doctor immediately. Headaches, dizziness, hallucinations, depression & confusion have been reported rarely. In addition, there have been rare reports of uncontrolled movements, this effect is usually reversible & should get better once you stop taking this medicine. Even more rarely the following have been reported in association with using the medicine: aches & pains in muscles & joints inflammation of the liver (with or without jaundice) pancreatitis (stomach pain) slow or irregular heart beat inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis) diarrhoea hair loss (alopecia) In men, breast tenderness and/or breast enlargement; interference with sexual function (impotence) have been reported very rarely. This interference with sexual function is normally reversible & should get better once you stop taking this medicine. Tests sometimes show upsets to blood counts

If you feel unwell or have any unusual symptoms you do not underst&, stop taking the tablets & tell your doctor or pharmacist. How can I avoid indigestion & heartburn? Heartburn & indigestion can be brought on by: overeating poor diet (too much fatty food) being overweight lack of exercise smoking drinking too much alcohol Do you think any of these may contribute to your indigestion or heartburn?
