A super-intelligent package, the Nikon Coolpix S 9300 also houses an 18x wide angle zoom lens, a super-bright image sensor & even a GPS satellite positioning receiver. To list but a few of its features you get 16 megapixels, Optical Image Stabilisation, 99-point Autofocus, Full HD movies & burst shooting at 6 frames per second, making the most of the super fast EXPEED C2 image processing chip. 16 Megapixels Back Illuminated CMOS The image sensor in the Coolpix S9300 uses a “back illuminated” design. What does this mean? Well it means that the layout of the image sensor is reversed; having the wiring array located behind the pixels, out of the light path. The result? More light is recorded allowing for shooting in darker conditions & less image noise, or “grain”. Extra Long 18x Zoom with VR The 18x zoom lens in the Coolpix S9300 uses ED Optical glass to give the sharpest possible image quality. The focal length is equivalent to 25-450mm on a 35mm film camera, accommodating all perspectives used in daily photography, right from extra wide to long telephoto. When zooming right in or shooting in dim conditions, there is a Lens Shift VR image stabiliser to give physical correction for camera shake. GPS Receiver The GPS unit built into this camera can be used both for tagging & tracking. You can also display your travels to friends using the camera’s mapping software. Full HD Movies The HD movie mode on the S9300 creates movies in 1080p quality with a dedicated record button & stereo sound. You can also pause recording, continue to autofocus & zoom during recording, & record in i-Frame format. Using the on-board HDMI port you can easily hook up to your HDTV too. Auto HDR Mode If you have ever taken a photo on a bright sunny day with disappointing results you’ll appreciate the value of this function. If say you’re taking a photo someone under a tree on a bright sunlit street, normal exposures will often have a washed-out street scene with an almost indistinguishable figure in the shadows. Using the HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode, two pictures of slightly different exposures are taken in rapid succession & then combined into one image. This image will then be able to successfully pick out details in both the brightest & darkest areas of the frame. Always In Focus The Coolpix S9300 uses a 99-Point AF system for focusing anywhere in the image area plus Subject Tracking AF to make sure your subject stays in focus as it moves around.
