When running out of storage capacity on the Synology 2U Rack Station, Synology RX1217 provides an easy way to immediately scale capacity by additional 12 drives. The RAID volume on the Synology Rack Station can be expanded directly without having to reformat the existing drives, ensuring the Synology Rack Station continues its service during the capacity expansion. Synology RX1217 can be used as a dedicated local backup solution for the Synology Rack Station. When created as a separate volume, RX1217 provides a great backup solution to its local drives in case of system failure. Synology 2U Rack Station securely connects to RX1217 with a high-bandwidth expansion cable that ensures maximum throughput. It allows the drives in the connected RX1217 to operate as they are the internal ones of the Synology Rack Station, with no lag in data retrieval. With SATA 6 Gb/s interface support, Synology RX1217 unleashes the full performance of the installed drives & provides outstanding data transfer rate. Deep Sleep can be manually configured to take effect automatically when the system has been inactive for a period of time. This not only saves energy but also extends the lifespan of the drives. RX1217 also powers on/off with the attached Rack Station, so no user intervention is needed to keep the system running smartly & efficiently.
