This is a beautiful & unique, antique French Bridge chair, that has been upholstered in a vintage French grain sack. The sacks come from a derelict flour mill in the south west of France, that closed 20 years ago. The word "meunier" means "miller" The sacks have nicely faded printing on them with the name of the mill owner Edouard Sebastia. The woodwork of the chair has been given a good polish with wax. The sacking works really well with wood. It's very easy on the eye, & also really hardwearing if you have children or dogs. I use them to reupholster footstools, but sometimes I have enough left over to make a cushion like this. The cushion measures 20" square & has a good quality hessian on the reverse. This cushion would work really well in an industrial/utility style house, or equally well in a stone flagged farmhouse kitchen. The sack comes from a disused flour mill in the south west of France.
