GNU Forest Bailey Strange Trip Pickle 153
- 2013
The Strange Trip Pickle is a version of Gnu’s multi award winning Park Pickle decked out in a topsheet that reflects the journey of Forest Bailey from snowboard grom to Gnu pro rider, it must have been some trip. Plaudits have rained down on the Park Pickle since its inception, its revolutionary asymmetric profile, banana camber & magne-traction edges have all won individual awards while Forest Bailey himself took it to Snowboarder magazine’s ‘ Next Top Pro Model’ comp last year & won the highest ollie competition, on a reverse camber snowboard! For those who haven’t heard of the technologies mentioned earlier, let me try & explain! The asymmetric profile means that the heel edge is longer than the toe side edge & has a different sidecut, the reason for this is that your heels & toes work in different ways as they are different shapes, the asymmetric shape reflects this & makes turning on each edge more intuitive & therefore easier. The Banana camber means that the snowboard floats more naturally in deeper snow eliminating back leg burn with an added benefit of making the landing of spins easier as less of the board is in contact with the snow. Finally Magne-Traction changes the normal radial sidecut into a corrugated edge, this gives the rider seven points of contact along the board allowing turn initiation from any of these points rather than just the nose & tail as is the case with a traditional radius sidecut. The upshot of this is the board has much more grip than a traditional snowboard, especially in icy conditions, giving the rider more confidence to rip through any terrain. The Gnu Forest Bailey Strange Trip Pickle is a snowboard is for creative riders who see the mountain as a playground & need a ride that will perform in whatever conditions they find wherever they point it.
