Lib Tech Skate Banana Snowboard 159

- 2013
It’s hard to find something new to say about the Skate Banana, it has been winning award after award since it innovated its way onto the scene nearly ten years ago & journalists, enthusiasts & professionals have lauded it ever since. There are many reasons for this acclaim, most centred on the revolutionary technology that changed snowboarding for ever, some on the artist driven vibrancy of their top sheet artwork & more still on Lib Tech’s industry leading environmental approach to building snowboards. Let’s start with the technology, the Skate Banana was one of the first boards to reintroduce reverse camber after it had briefly made an appearance in the 1980’s but what was so revolutionary was the introduction of the corrugated edge profile, Magne-Traction. The reverse camber, or banana profile centres the riders weight between the bindings to enhance float, catch free riding & makes spins easier to land as it ‘loosens’ the nose & tail. When riding hard pack however the loose nose & tail can make the board feel twitchy, this is where Magne-Traction works its magic! The corrugated profile allows the rider to initiate a turn from one of the seven ridges running along the edge, rather than the ends of the effective edge, giving the rider more grip than normal even when only half the board is in contact with the snow. The Skate Banana is conscious of its environment too with Lib Tech leading the way with its use of renewable wood, toxin free dyes & the use of castor beans to lessen the amount of harmful fibreglass used. This is a serious snowboard designed by some of the most forward thinking dudes in the business, get one & see what all the fuss is about!
