China became a super-power almost 1, 400 years ago. In 618AD the Tang dynasty was founded & for almost three centuries it fostered a remarkable flowering of the arts (ceramics in particular), science & technology. The first printing press was made & screen printing was developed. The silk trade flourished & for a while the Tang capital Chang'an was the largest city in the world. Today this period is best known for producing exquisite porcelain tableware & figurines. Most examples are in museums & the few that are in private collections change hands for fabulous sums of money. Thankfully that's not the case with our faithfully modelled replica. In polyresin which is practically unbreakable rather than fragile porcelain, it's been painstakingly recreated from an original to capture something of the majesty & mystique of an astonishing civilisation.
