Belleek Classic Ballycopeland Windmill Annual Ornament 2022
Situated in Millisle, County Down, Ballycopeland Windmill is the only remaining functioning Windmill in Northern Irel&. With a typical stone tower, the Windmill was built around the 1780’s-90’s & has three storeys. Powered by the wind transmitted from its sails, there are three pairs of millstones found on the ground floor which were responsible for making wheatmeal, shelling & grinding grain into oatmeal. An important source of food until the First World War, the Windmill was restored back to working order in 1978 & now houses a visitor centre.
Designers at Belleek have created a beautiful ornament embossed with gold & a lucky shamrock on the reverse. The Woodfolk Ltd from County Fermanagh has lovingly produced the turning oak sails, adding a playful feature to this unique piece.
Hand crafted at historical Belleek Pottery, The Ballycopeland Ornament is the 35th Annual Edition Ornament.
