Improvements for the Mk 3 include more refined, brighter LEDs that now combine to kick out a very very bright 975 Lumens on the highest setting, a storm cap to keep the smartport covered when it's not in use, Exposure's new Intelligent Thermal Management (ITM) which reduces the loss of LED efficiency over time as they gradually heat up so the light stays brighter for longer, & a gold plated charging port for the maximum conductivity & thus (slightly) faster charging. Handlebar brackets are available separately for those who prefer to mount the light on the bars, & that is useful if this is going to be your only light or your main light for road riding & commuting. The reason Exposure like to ship these with a helmet mount, apart from wanting to sell you a separate one for your bars, is because they like to think you'll have at least two high powered lights for your off-road night rides
