His work riffs off 1950s pop culture, from music to movies to magazines, updating Pop Art styles with an innovative combination of acrylic & spray-paint, merged with digital techniques. In stunning, saturated technicolour, ‘ Fairy-Tale Riot’ depicts a surreal realm in disarray: the Emerald City hovers on the horizon but there’s no Dorothy on this yellow brick road. Instead, riot police & SWAT teams have invaded the magical forest
- faced with the aftermath, all we can do is guess at the villainous crimes committed in Dirty Hans’s wonderful world of the imaginary.
