Style & techniques: This intricate design is made from premium veg tan leather, which has been oiled & dyed with natural oils to a natural pale tan colour. The design combines tattoo inspired themes, focused around skeleton imagery. The piece mixes stylised natural & geometric forms into a symmetrical pattern/design. It

Includes:: motifs of a skeleton & cross, stylized poppies, ravens & sands of time. The majority of the design is tattooed using only 1 needle & a traditional tattoo machine (with some stronger lines & sections to create depth) Therefore, the line-work is both detailed & labour intensive. The line-work is brought out by tooling with leatherworking tools, creating depth within the design. Sections of the design are embossed, so that the surface is raised. This is particularly seen within the large poppy. The edges of the leather have been dyed Black & burnished to a smooth finish. Variations: The leather may deepen in colour, as it reacts to UV light. There may be natural markings on the grain of the skin (which is brought out with the use of natural dyes) The photographs have been taken in natural daylight. The colour of the leather may differ in other light sources. Generally, each item is made to order & as such may differ slightly in appearance to the one seen here. The wood is reclaimed & reconditioned, so each that frame is unique. The frame is a shadowbox frame, allowing the leather art to sit away from the glass. The interior & exterior of the frame is painted in heritage Farrow & Ball paints in 'old white'. The mount is antique white.
