These beautiful globes are made using at least 30% crushed Blue Lapis stone for the Oceans and Countries are constructed from individual hand cut pieces of mineral, hard stones and semi precious stones. The larger the globe is, the more detail and stone variety. Examples of stones used are Malachite, Mother of Pearl, Jasper, Amethyst, Agate and Tiger Eye. Well over forty different stones are used in the larger sized globes. A 330mm globe has 161 cut stones which equates to 305 pieces (i.e. China has 9 pieces of Picture Jasper). The 220mm globe also has 161 cut stones, which equates to 244 pieces. Lines of latitude and longitude are depicted using very fine gilded wire and all the legends on the globe are silk screen printed to a high quality.
This product is a 110mm globe on a Lapis Lazuli coated Pedestal stand base, with a gold plated semi meridian.
