With subtle, light colours & an almost fairytale like quality to it, this magical picture depicts a centuries old scene of a women doing some shopping with her basket & chatting to the animated shopkeeper, while a dignified gentleman & his daughter patiently wait on. Born in 1895, Anton Franciscus Pieck is famous for his elegant & detailed illustrations of fairytale stories, & for being the main designer & driving force behind the Efteling theme park in Holland
- Holland's first & largest theme park. He passed away at age 92 in 1987.
