Chteau de Beaucastel rightly remains at the top of the pile in Chteaneuf-du-Pape. Over the past twenty years, others have caught up, but few, if any, have stolen their mantle. The vines have been grown organically since the Perrins bought the estate in the early 1950s, although the family have not eschewed modernity in their winery, embracing technology & new ideas to meet their loyal, world-wide customers expectations, & to stay ahead of the pack. The Vieilles Vignes Roussanne comes from a seven acre parcel of seventy-plus year-old vines, with its very low yields & remarkable concentration. This should be enjoyed in its first five years when its primary aromatic properties are at their best. Drink 2012 -2015.
