It seems that, in Germany, if you ask for a glass of wine, more often than not you will be brought a glass of something dry or Trocken & not the deliciously grapey wines of tradition. I have for years spurned the Trocken styles, believing them to be old-fashioned wines with the fun sucked out of them. My recent visit has forced me to re-evaluate my position & admit that there are some rather fine wines being made.
