70cl / 50.8% / Chivas Brothers - A limited-edition blended whisky from Royal Salute that was created by master blender Sandy Hyslop to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Composed of impressively long-aged spirits from distilleries that are now lost to time. Aromas of red apples, strawberries, clove-studded orange, dark chocolate, almonds, honey and peach tart fill the nose, complemented by blackcurrant jam, poached plums, apricot, caramel, stem ginger, clove and nutmeg throughout the palate.
70cl / 48.1% / Signatory - A 1995 Glen Grant single malt from independent bottler Signatory Vintage, matured in a pair of ex-bourbon barrels for 23 years, before being bottled in February 2019 as part of its Cask Strength Collection.
70cl / 47% - This mezcal is bottled by Banhez: a cooperative of families, farmers and producers. It can take up to 25 years for the earthy, vegetal Tepeztate agave to come of age, which makes this varietal release all the more special. Wild-fermented and distilled with copper pot stills, this bottling shows lots of green pepper, crisp apple, smoke and citrus.
70cl / 48% - An artisanal mezcal from Nuestra Soledad, made by master mezcalero Pedro Vasquez in Lachigui, Maihuatlan. The palate offers notes of red grapes, barbecued pineapple, mango and pine needles that linger in the finish.
70cl / 52.2% / Elixir Distillers - A sweet, malty 1999 Miltonduff single malt, this was matured in a single hogshead for two decades, before being bottled by Elixir Distillers in July 2019, as part of its Single Malts of Scotland series. Aromas of malt, bubblegum, chewy sweets, vanilla ice cream and pear cider fill the nose. The palate offers notes of toasted oak, porridge, tropical fruit, bananas and peach eau-de-vie, with hazelnuts and sunflower seeds underneath.
70cl / 51.4% / Elixir Distillers - A 1998 Ardmore single malt from indie bottler Elixir Distillers, matured in a single hogshead before being bottled in February 2020 as part of its Whisky Trail Vintage Cars series. Aromas of salted caramel and vanilla ice cream, milk chocolate and beach bonfires fill the nose. The palate offers notes of mellow peat smoke, apples and pears, candied lemon peel and beach-side barbecues.
70cl / 56% / Hunter Laing - Part of Hunter Laing's Old Malt Cask series, this single cask Craigellachie was distilled in 2006 and aged exclusively in a single ex-sherry butt until it was bottled in February 2019. A lively, sweet whisky, it has notes of red berries, summer flowers, buttery shortbread and honey throughout the palate, with a strong, mineral backbone. The finish brings rich toffee, orange, espresso and dark chocolate flavours that linger.
75cl / 46% / Cadenhead's - A 1957 bottle of Glenlossie from independent bottlers Cadenhead's, bottled at 21 years of age. This was awarded an impressive 92 points by Malt Maniac Serge Valentin, who commented it had notes of ginger, liquorice and tangerine.
450cl / 43% / Distillery Bottling - A big bottle of Glendronach 12 year old. The distillery was mothballed between 1996 to 2002 and since its reopening has experienced something of a renaissance. In 2009, the core range was relaunched and the 12 year old is now fully matured in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks to give a deliciously rich and spicy malt.
