Commonly known as the New Zealand pepper tree, Pseudowintera is an unusual foliage plant for your garden, creating an evergreen backdrop for your other plants with its multicoloured foliage.
The fabulous, gold-green leaves are heavily blotched with deep ruby-red & are produced in abundance, along with clusters of small, pale greenish-yellow flowers in spring. These are followed by spherical red berries maturing to black in summer which are particularly appealing to birds.
Very easy to grow, & undemanding in its care, Pseudowintera thrives both in a flower border & when grown as a focal plant in a pot on the patio
- so theres no reason why you cant have one & enjoy its beauty no matter what size of garden you have.
Typically growing to around 1.5m (5ft) in height, this spreading, bushy shrub is supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot.
