To bust a gang of car smugglers, detective Seo Do Cheol (Hwang Jung Min) hires truck driver Bae Cheol Ho (Jung Woong In) & travels to Busan with his partner Oh (Oh Dal Soo). While Do Cheol eagerly anticipates a promotion after accomplishing the mission, Bae gets sacked by his contractor (Jung Man Shik) who works for the conglomerate Sinjin Group. Bae protests against the unfair dismissal & finally gets a chance to voice his grievances to Jo Tae Oh (Yoo Ah In), the young arrogant heir to Sinjin Group. The meeting turns violent & Bae gets humiliated & beaten up in front of his son. After the meeting, Bae falls from the top stairwell of the Sinjin Group building in an apparent suicide.
Do Cheol, however, is doubtful about the circumstances of Baes fall & suspects that the rich & out-of-control Tae Oh may be related to the case. While Do Cheol persists in finding the truth, Tae Oh & Sinjin vice president Choi (Yu Hae Jin) resort to increasingly extreme measures to stop him from digging into the case.
