Based on an award-winning manga by Manabe Shohei, the Ushijima The Loan Shark television drama served as a cautionary tale for people thinking about borrowing money from loan sharks. Now, Yamada Takayuki brings his fearsome loan shark persona to the big screen in the feature film version of Ushijima Loan Shark. The chairman of Kaukau Finance takes up one of the three stories in the film version, showing the ruthless methods he uses to make sure his debtors pay him back, including charging 50% interest on a loan every ten days.
Like the television drama, the other two stories follow individual Ushijima debtors & how they arrived to the point of desperation that drove them to borrow from the loan shark. AKB48s Oshima Yuko stars in a story, about a young woman who turns to the loan shark to cover her mothers pachinko debts, while Hayashi Kento ( Parade) stars in the third story, about an event planner borrowing money to pay for his firms rapid expansion.
