With Driving With My Wifes Lover & Tokyo Taxi, director Kim Tae Sik is beginning to establish himself as an auteur in road comedies. A hilarious road film about cultural misunderstandings & a bond between two strangers, Tokyo Taxi brings together a Japanese rock musician (played by The Back Horns vocalist Yamada Masashi) & a reluctant taxi driver (Yamazaki Hajime) hoping to look beyond Tokyo. The two take an extended road trip from Tokyo to Seoul when the musician is too afraid of flying to take a plane to Seoul, even though an ocean & a cultural barrier separate the two countries. Along the way, they run into strange characters, get into uncontrollable situations, & somehow get a cab across an ocean & up the Korean peninsula.
